In a dramatic ending, the Boston Red Sox staged a comeback win over the
Washington Nationals by the count of 8 to 7.

Boston won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs on 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Steve Yerkes initiated the
scoring spurt when he drew a walk. Tris Speaker was next and he stroked a
single. Duffy Lewis then belted a three-run homer resulting in an exciting
win for Boston and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Washington had 14 hits in the game while Boston had 7, but Boston had the
more timely hits.

The victory went to Larry Pape(1-2) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Charlie Becker(0-2) was given the loss in relief. Boston knocked him around
a bit, as he gave up 4 runs in 2 innings.

'Wow, that was fun!', Pape said following the game. 'Once in a while you play
a game that reminds you just why you got into this business to begin with!'
