Vic Saier smashed 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Christy Mathewson went 9 strong
innings at Polo Grounds as the Brooklyn Dodgers belted the New York-NL Giants
by the count of 14 to 3.

Saier was a one-man wrecking crew. He singled in the 2nd inning, lifted one
out of the park for a two run home run in the 3rd inning, smashed a solo-shot
out of the park in the 7th inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the
9th inning. Offensively, Brooklyn was a juggernaut. They scored in 6
separate innings.

The victory went to Mathewson(8-4) who went the distance allowing 3 runs. Pete
Alexander(5-6) was the losing pitcher. Brooklyn scored big getting 9 runs
off him in 4 and 2/3 innings.

'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them' Saier said.
'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.'
