16,130 fans watched an exciting game at Forbes Field.  The New York-AL Yankees
topped the Pittsburgh Pirates by the slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.

The game was won by New York-AL with a run in the 9th inning.  Billy Goodman
drew a walk.  After an out was recorded, Smoky Burgess came up and he
delivered a one-base hit.  Minnie Minoso then hit a sacrifice fly scoring the
run.  New York-AL had a total of 10 hits for the game.  

The victory went to Carl Erskine(2-4) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs.
The losing pitcher was Ruben Gomez(4-2) in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 1
hit in 3 and 1/3 innings.
