Will White went 9 strong innings and Pop Corkhill hit 3 doubles and had 2 RBI
as the slumping Washington Nationals were badly beaten by the Cincinnati Red
Stockings, 13 to 1.

White(7-3) put on a good performance.  He allowed only 4 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings improving his ERA from 3.76 to 3.48.  Cincinnati had many
opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.  

John Hamill(1-7) was hit with the loss.  Cincinnati knocked him around a bit,
as he gave up 13 runs in 9 innings.  'We didn't have a whole lot of chances
today,' Washington's manager said.  'White just was too much for our guys.'
