Dan Brouthers hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI and Bert Inks pitched a complete
game as the Louisville Colonels defeated the Baltimore Orioles by a score of
9 to 8 at Union Park.

Louisville brought 3 runs across the plate in the top of the 7th inning when
they had 3 base hits. Tub Welch led off and started the rally when he
slapped a one-base hit. Two outs later John O'Brien stepped in and he ripped
a base-hit. Frank Shugart then drew a walk to load the bases. Brouthers
came up and he doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond. It was roller
coaster of a game as the lead change hands 6 times.

Inks(2-2), allowing 8 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Bill
Hoffer(5-2) was the losing pitcher. He was hit hard and gave up 15 hits and
8 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings.

'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' John McCloskey sighed. 'That win feels like a tall,
cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
