Left fielder Joe Kelley had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Baltimore Orioles won
in dramatic fashion over the Chicago Colts by a score of 12 to 11 at West
Side Park.

Baltimore came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning scoring
2 runs on 4 hits. Heinie Reitz led off and got things going when he ripped a
one-base hit. Jack Doyle stepped up to the plate and he lined a base-hit.
After an out was recorded, Wilbert Robinson then delivered a base-hit driving
in a run. After another out, Willie Keeler came to bat and ripped a single
scoring the final run of the inning. The score went back-and-forth with the
lead changing 5 times.

Arlie Pond(4-1) went 8 innings allowing 11 runs for the win. Pond got relief
help from Bill Hoffer who gained credit for his 1st save. Buttons
Briggs(2-7) was the loser. He allowed 18 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.

Cap Anson was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in the
mood for questions, but I'm sure Ned Hanlon will be glad to talk about the
game as long as you have questions to ask.'
