Jim O'Rourke smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Boston Red Stockings
defeated the Chicago White Stockings by a score of 9 to 7 at South End
Grounds.

O'Rourke had a great day at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every
move. He clubbed a solo home run in the 1st inning, belted a three-run homer
in the 5th inning, lined a single which plated a run in the 6th inning and
doubled in the 8th inning. Chicago made it exciting in the 9th, but they
were unable to push the needed runs across.

Curry Foley(2-2) went 8 innings allowing 6 runs for the victory. Fred
Goldsmith(6-2) was the loser. He was not very effective, surrendering 9 runs
in 8 innings.

'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Foley said,
'this was one of those times.'
