The Washington Nationals edged the Philadelphia Athletics in 14 innings at
Columbia Park by the score of 3 to 2.
Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings. Washington came out on
top in the 14th inning. Bill Shipke tripled. After an out was recorded,
Clyde Milan came up and he ripped a base-knock. Bob Ganley then hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the run. Washington finished with 11 hits in the
victory.
The win was credited to Eli Cates(4-0) who went 1/3 of an inning allowing no
runs. Cy Falkenberg recorded his 2nd save. Eddie Plank(1-5) was the loser.
With this win, Washington has a 23-15 record. They have been 5-5 lately. With
the loss Philadelphia now has a record of 16-23.
