Carl Furillo went deep and had 2 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs topped the New
York-AL Yankees by a score of 7 to 6 at Yankee Stadium.
Whitey Ford(6-5) pitched a fine game. He went 8 innings allowing 6 hits and 3
walks improving his ERA from 5.60 to 4.97. New York-AL threatened in the 9th
but Chicago-NL was able to put down the rally.
Ford got help from Tom Gorman who earned his 3rd save. Robin Roberts(4-5) was
the losing pitcher. He was knocked around by Chicago-NL, allowing 13 hits
and 3 walks in 9 innings.
