History was made in Providence as Monte Ward(11-6) tossed a no-hitter and the
Providence Grays defeated the Cleveland Blues by the score of 3 to 0.

Ward gave the home town fans an afternoon that they'll never forget. He
walked 2 Cleveland batters. The tension started to build around the 6th
inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified. Providence finished
with 9 hits in the victory.

Jim McCormick(10-7) ended up with the loss. He surrendered 3 runs and 9 hits
in 8 innings. Ward was in a jubilant mood after the game. 'If I'd known I
was going to throw a no hitter I would have gotten a haircut!' he said, much
to the delight of the clubhouse gathering.
