Dan McGann had 2 base hits and 5 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics by a score of 9 to 5 at West Side
Park.

Philadelphia-AL was unable to recover after Chicago-NL went ahead in the 7th
inning when they came up with 3 runs on 4 hits. The biggest moment was
provided by McGann who electrified West Side Park when he stroked a base-hit
plating two runs. Overall Chicago-NL out-hit Philadelphia-AL 16 to 12.

Big Jeff Pfeffer(7-2) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Frank
Corridon(6-4) took the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 2 walks
in 6 innings.

No one has been able to stop Chicago-NL lately as they lengthened their
winning streak to 6 games. 'We've really come alive lately,' Lee Palmer said.
'We won some tough games and I feel real good about this ballclub right now,
and hopefully we'll continue the roll we're on.'
