The Cincinnati Reds toppled the reeling Philadelphia-AL Athletics by a 8 to 4
score at Crosley Field.

Cincinnati drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
when they tallied 4 runs on 4 hits. The critical plate appearance was by
Enos Slaughter who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he popped a
two-run clout over the fence. Cincinnati had 14 hits for the game and
Philadelphia-AL had 6.

The win was credited to Ken Raffensberger(6-3) who went 6 innings allowing 3
runs. Frank Smith recorded the save, his 4th. Bob Lemon(5-7) was the loser.
He was touched for 4 homeruns in his 4 innings of work.
