Joe Ginsberg had 3 base hits as the Chicago-NL Cubs outscored the
Philadelphia-NL Phillies in 11 innings 3 to 2.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  Chicago-NL came out the victor
in the 11th inning.  After two outs Whitey Lockman slapped a one-base hit.
Eddie Yost stepped up next and he slapped a base-hit.  Duke Snider then lined
a base-hit resulting in a mighty exciting win for Chicago-NL and the 12,930
home town fans in attendance.  Chicago-NL rapped out 11 hits for the
afternoon.  

The victory went to Lou Kretlow(2-0) who went 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Steve Gromek(0-3) took the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 5 hits
in 2 and 2/3 innings.
