Third baseman Sid Gordon collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI as the New
York-AL Yankees really laid it on the Washington Nationals 18 to 0.

Gordon had a big day at the plate.  He tripled plating two runs in the 1st
inning, doubled which scored a run in the 3rd inning and stroked a base-hit
in the 4th inning.  New York-AL kept the scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning
with 6 runs on 6 hits and the 4th inning when they had 6 runs on 5 hits.
Washington was out-hit by New York-AL, 14 hits to 5.  

Carl Erskine(8-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 innings and allowing
no runs. Erskine was helped out by Paul Minner who recorded his 1st save.
The loss was charged to Murry Dickson(5-5).  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 10 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
