Charlie Buffinton pitched a complete game as the Boston Beaneaters bested the
Chicago White Stockings 13 to 9 at South End Grounds.

In the 7th inning Boston scored 5 runs with the help of 4 hits.  They would
prove to be the difference in the contest.  Chicago threatened in the 9th but
Boston was able to put down the rally.  

Buffinton(2-3) got the victory, allowing 9 runs for the game. The loss was
charged to John Clarkson(8-3).  He got hammered, allowing 13 hits and 2 walks
in 8 innings.
