WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Jack Thoney robbed Ginger Beaumont of an extra base hit.

Bob Ewing carried a no-hitter into the 9th inning and right fielder Jake Stahl
had 2 base hits at American League Park where the Washington Senators beat
the Boston-AL Americans 1 to 0.

Ewing(4-6) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Boston-AL
hitters. He surrendered only 1 hit and 1 walk in 9 innings reducing his ERA
from 2.41 to 2.14. The right-handed Ewing lost his no-hit bid when Kid
Gleason singled with one out in the 9th inning. Boston-AL threatened in the
9th but their rally came up short.

Rube Waddell(6-5) was the losing pitcher. He was pinned with the loss despite
not allowing an earned run in his 8 innings of work.

'Ewing pitched a gem of a game', Dale Van Leven recounted. 'He kept our
batters off balance the entire game.'
