2,702 fans were treated to a fine game at Hilltop Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Boston Red Sox won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

Ralph Glaze(3-2) delivered a fine performance for Boston.  He surrendered 8
hits and 1 walk in 7 and 1/3 innings improving his ERA from 4.05 to 3.71.
New York could do no damage in the bottom of the 9th.  

George Winter preserved the game for Glaze, recording his his 1st save.  Al
Orth(2-3) was the loser.  He pitched 9 innings allowing only 3 hits and no
walks.

With this win, Boston has a 24-19 record.  They have been 7-3 lately.  Kid
Elberfeld was unhappy with his club's recent performance.  'We can't keep
losing games' he said.  'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
