The Philadelphia-AL Athletics defeated the Washington Nationals by a score of
5 to 1 at American League Park.

Washington fell behind quickly as the Philadelphia-AL offense came through in
the first inning plating an isolated run.  Frank Schulte reached on an error.
Tris Speaker came next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Home Run Baker
then hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run.  Philadelphia-AL banged out 7 hits
on the afternoon.  

The win was credited to Cy Young(8-5) who went 7 innings allowing 1 run. The
losing pitcher was Eddie Cicotte(2-3).  He surrendered 7 hits and 10 walks in
9 innings.
