Del Ennis launched 2 homeruns as the New York-AL Yankees beat the Washington
Nationals by a score of 9 to 6.

Ennis enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering.  He launched a Grand Slam
homerun in the 1st inning, clubbed a three-run home run in the 3rd inning and
ripped a one-base hit in the 5th inning.  New York-AL and Washington each
finished the afternoon with 11 hits.  

Mel Parnell(2-2) allowed 1 run in 4 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Don Newcombe(6-5) was the loser.  He got hammered, allowing 7 hits
and 2 walks in 2 innings.  

Wth the win New York-AL now has a record of 19-33.  With the loss, Washington
has a record of 6-4 lately, 30-30 overall.
