TEAM RISP- Red Sox: 3 for 10 Pirates: 1 for 11

Joe Tipton had 2 base hits as the Boston-AL Red Sox rallied impressively to
win in dramatic style over Pittsburgh Pirates, 5 to 3.

Boston-AL won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 3
runs on 3 base hits. Eddie Waitkus kicked off the action when he ripped a
base-hit. Cass Michaels stepped into the batter's box and he stroked a
single. After an out was recorded, Bobby Del Greco then drew a walk to load
the bases. Dave Philley followed and he delivered a single scoring two
teammates. Philley took second on the throw. Chico Carrasquel stepped into
the box and worked the squeeze play to perfection scoring the final run of
the inning. Pittsburgh was out-hit by Boston-AL, 12 hits to 8.

Hoyt Wilhelm(5-3) allowed 1 run in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Mike
Fornieles recorded the save, his 7th. Dutch Leonard(1-3) absorbed the loss
in relief.

Andy Spector was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough
loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a
terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to
lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin'
on us this afternoon'
