In a game at Baseball Grounds the Philadelphia Phillies got by the Pittsburg
Pirates by the score of 9 to 6.

Philadelphia took the lead for good in the 5th inning when they tallied 2 runs
on 2 hits.  The biggest moment was provided by Billy Shindle who brought the
crowd to their feet when he delivered a single bringing home two baserunners.
Pittsburg tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.  

Duke Esper(4-7) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 6 runs for the victory. Mark
Baldwin(2-5) was given the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 3
walks in 8 innings.
