In a startling finish the Boston Beaneaters staged a comeback then held on to
win over the Chicago Orphans by a score of 11 to 6 at West Side Park.

The difference in the game was the offensive outburst by Boston in the top of
the 9th inning showing no mercy on Chicago as they plated 9 runs on 8 hits.
The big moment was provided by Mike Smith who disappointed the partisan crowd
when he doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond. Both teams ended up
with 13 hits on the afternoon.

Bill Dinneen(4-3) went 8 innings allowing 6 runs for the victory. Mal
Eason(1-4) was the losing pitcher. He was knocked around by Boston, allowing
13 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.

Frank Selee was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'
