One run was the difference at Baker Bowl as the Philadelphia-NL Phillies
defeated the Cincinnati Reds 4 to 3.

Three Finger Brown(6-1) slammed the door shut in an excellent relief
performance. He allowed only 1 hit and no walks in 2 innings. Cincinnati
threatened in the 9th but Philadelphia-NL was able to put down the rally.

Brown got help from Win Kellum who was credited with his 3rd save. Christy
Mathewson(8-9) was the losing pitcher. Mark McGonigle was beaming after the
game, 'Not only were we making good contact, but a lot of balls we hit seemed
to have 'eyes'! I just love winning these tight ones! It was just our day -
no doubt about it!'
