Steve Evans homered and had 3 RBI at Washington Park as the Brooklyn Dodgers
beat the Cincinnati Reds by the count of 7 to 5.

Brooklyn jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they scored 3
runs on 3 hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Evans who brought the
crowd to their feet when he clubbed a three-run home run.  Cincinnati had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.  

Eppa Rixey(6-4) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Tom
Seaton gained credit for his 5th save.  Red Ames(4-4) absorbed the loss.  His
ERA increased from 2.76 to 3.48 as he allowed 7 runs in 6 innings.
