Stone(4-3) was simply too much for the Chicago batters. He allowed only 2 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Stone racked up 10 strikeouts. Kansas City totaled 13 hits on the afternoon. Dan Sherman(0-1) ended up with the loss. His biggest problem was control as he allowed 13 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Stone was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time out!'
