Dimaggio provided much of the offense. He delivered a base-hit plating a run in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, laced a single resulting in a run in the 4th inning and smashed a two-run homer in the 8th inning. Washington provided plenty of action in the 4th inning which saw them score 7 runs on 8 hits and the 8th inning with 5 runs on 5 hits. Washington finished with 19 hits in the victory. Newhouser(6-4) allowed 6 runs on the game. Larry Jansen(5-11) ended up with the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 9 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
