Stan Musial went yard and had 3 RBI as the Philadelphia-NL Phillies beat the
Washington Nationals in 11 innings by a score of 7 to 6.

The score was knotted at 6 after nine innings.  Philadelphia-NL came out the
victor in the 11th inning.  Phil Rizzuto laced a single.  Jackie Jensen was
next and he ripped a base-hit.  Jensen took second on the throw.  Earl
Torgeson then was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Musial was up next
and he slapped a single resulting in an exciting win for Philadelphia-NL and
a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.  Philadelphia-NL ended up
with 12 hits for the game while Washington had 7.  

Bud Podbielan(4-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Carl
Erskine(1-3) was charged with the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 3
hits without retiring a batter.
