Kid Gleason had a complete game and center fielder Steve Brodie collected 2
extra-base hits as the St. Louis Browns won in dramatic fashion over the New
York Giants by a score of 6 to 5 at Polo Grounds.

St. Louis came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits.  Perry Werden opened up the inning nicely when he was
hit by a pitch.  Lew Whistler next to the plate and he doubled, and an error
was also committed, driving home two runs.  After an out was recorded, Joe
Quinn then doubled.  Joe Gunson followed and he drew a walk.  After another
out, Jack Crooks came up and he reached on an error scoring the final run of
the inning.  St. Louis had a total of 7 hits for the game.  

The win went to Gleason(6-4) who allowed 5 runs in the game. Amos Rusie(9-5)
was charged with the loss.  He surrendered 7 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 1/3
innings.
