New York-NL won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 2

ripped a single. Patsy Dougherty followed next and he delivered a single.
Dougherty took second on the throw. Huggins then doubled knocking home two
runners. For the game New York-NL out-hit Washington 13 to 9.

The victory was credited to Jack Powell(7-6) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 6 runs. Claude Elliott earned his 2nd save. Beany Jacobson(2-3)
suffered the loss.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Powell, 'I got burned on
a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
