The Washington Nationals edged the Pittsburgh Pirates in 13 innings at Forbes
Field by the score of 4 to 3.

The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings.  Washington won it in
the 13th inning.  After an out was recorded, Frank Baumholtz stroked a
one-base hit.  Bob Addis next to the plate and he slapped a single.  After
another out, Billy Martin then ripped a single scoring the run.  Martin took
second on the throw.  Washington had 14 hits for the night while Pittsburgh
had 9.  

Harry Byrd(1-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing no
runs. Ellis Kinder(3-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He gave up 1 run
and 3 hits in 1 inning.
