In the bottom of the 4th inning Cincinnati scored 4 runs when they came up with 3 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Del Crandall who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he rifled a three-run blast. Washington had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Willard Nixon(1-5) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Nixon got help from Don Bessent who earned his 20th save.
