Al Spalding had a complete game as the Boston Red Stockings ballclub
embarrassed the Chicago White Stockings by the count of 19 to 8.

Deacon White was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine
day at their team's expense. He doubled in the 1st inning, singled which
brought home a run in the 2nd inning and tripled which scored a run in the
4th inning. Boston bats were hot in the 5th inning which saw them score 5
runs on 4 hits and the 8th inning when they had 6 runs on 4 hits.
Offensively, Boston was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

The winning pitcher was Spalding(12-8) who allowed 8 runs for the game. George
Zettlein(3-5) absorbed the loss. Boston scored big getting 19 runs off him
in 9 innings.

With this win, Boston has a 12-8 record. They have been 6-4 lately. Chicago
has a record of 3-5 after the loss.
