WEB GEMS- Bot 3rd: Mike Moynahan robbed George Gore of a base hit.

Cap Anson knocked 2 homeruns and had 8 RBI and Larry Corcoran pitched a
complete game at Lake Front Park as the Chicago White Stockings beat the
Cleveland Blues by the count of 16 to 11.

Anson had a great day at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every move.
He cracked a solo homerun in the 2nd inning, hit a single knocking in a run
in the 3rd inning, ripped a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners in the
5th inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 6th inning and laced
a base-hit plating two runs in the 8th inning. Chicago lit up the scoreboard
in the 5th inning which saw them score 5 runs on 5 hits and the 8th inning
when they had 6 runs on 8 hits. A wild affair, this game saw the lead change
5 times.

The win went to Corcoran(10-5) who allowed 11 runs in the game. Jim
McCormick(7-7) suffered the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 8 innings.

The Chicago ballclub's record now stands at 17-11. With this loss, Cleveland
has a 5-5 record of late, 12-16 overall.
