Cy Young went the distance as the Cleveland Spiders defeated the Boston
Beaneaters by the score of 6 to 4 at South End Grounds.

The game was decided in the top of the 8th inning.  After an out was recorded,
Spud Johnson lined a base-hit.  After another out, Johnson was safe at second
on a stolen base.  Jerry Denny then singled scoring the run.  Cleveland
banged out 13 hits on the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Young(8-5) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Pretzels
Getzien(4-3) was the loser.  He surrendered 6 runs and 13 hits in 8 and 2/3
innings.
