First baseman Jake Beckley had 4 hits as the Philadelphia-AL Athletics topped
the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings by a score of 4 to 2 at Palace Of The
Fans.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Philadelphia-AL won it in the 10th
inning. Freddy Parent led off and started the attack as he tripled. Beckley
came to the plate and tripled bringing in a run. Buck Freeman then drew a
walk. Jimmy Collins was up next and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final
run of the inning. Philadelphia-AL banged out 10 hits on the afternoon.
Roy Patterson(7-2) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 9 innings. Jock Menefee
gained credit for his 1st save. Togie Pittinger(1-2) was the loser in
relief. He pitched 1 inning giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.
