The Chicago-NL Cubs nipped the Washington Nationals 3 to 2 at American League
Park in a hard fought contest.

Chicago-NL came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 8th inning plating
2 runs on 2 hits.  John Hummel started the inning off right when he drew a
walk.  Rube Oldring followed and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  One out
later, John Ganzel then laced a base-hit, and an error was also committed,
scoring a run.  Jack Warner was up next and he slapped a single scoring the
final run of the inning.  Washington was retired without difficulty in the
bottom of the 9th.  

Chick Fraser(2-7) was the winner allowing no runs in 3 innings. Cy
Falkenberg(5-10) was the loser.  He surrendered 3 runs and 3 hits in 7 and
2/3 innings.
