WEB GEMS- Top 8th: Bill Killefer blocked the plate, saving a run!

Jimmy Austin connected with a 'big fly' and had 6 RBI and Jack Quinn had a
strong outing at Sportsman'S Park as the New York Highlanders, running on all
cylinders, ripped the struggling St. Louis Browns by a large 12 to 1
margin.

Austin had a great day at the plate. He banged out a single in the 5th
inning, smacked a three-run homer in the 8th inning and tripled with all
three runners coming home in the 9th inning. New York banged out 13 hits on
the afternoon.

The victory was credited to Quinn(4-5) who went the distance, allowing 1 run.
Jack Powell(2-4) was the loser. 'They made a couple of mistakes and I took
full advantage,' Austin said 'next time I'm sure they'll pitch me tougher.'
