At Griffith Stadium the Pittsburgh Pirates outscored the Washington Nationals
in 11 innings 6 to 3.

The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Pittsburgh won it in the
11th inning.  Pat Seerey led off and started the rally when he drew a walk.
Two outs later Red Schoendienst stepped up to the plate and he delivered a
base-hit scoring a single run.  Billy Johnson then doubled plating another
run.  Billy Cox came up and he doubled scoring the final run of the inning.
Washington out-hit Pittsburgh 13 to 10, but Pittsburgh ended up with more
runs.  

Bobby Hogue(5-2) allowed no runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory.
Schoolboy Rowe earned the save, his 3rd.  The loss was charged to Kirby
Higbe(4-3) in relief.
