Billy Johnson then doubled plating another run. Billy Cox came up and he doubled scoring the final run of the inning. Washington out-hit Pittsburgh 13 to 10, but Pittsburgh ended up with more runs. Bobby Hogue(5-2) allowed no runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Schoolboy Rowe earned the save, his 3rd. The loss was charged to Kirby Higbe(4-3) in relief.
