Center fielder Richie Ashburn had 4 hits at Yankee Stadium as the New York-AL
Yankees won a thriller over the Boston-AL Red Sox in, 9 to 6.

New York-AL scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning plating 3
runs.  Ralph Kiner led off the inning for New York-AL when he drew a walk.
Sid Gordon stepped into the batter's box and he reached on an error.  Two
outs later Gus Zernial came to bat and clubbed a three-run home run giving
New York-AL the win as 37,538 happy fans joyfully celebrated.  This was a
game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing
- 5 times in all.  

Bob Kuzava(2-2) was the winner allowing 1 run in 3 innings. Hal White(2-1)
suffered the loss in relief.  He gave up 2 runs and no hits in 1/3 of an
inning.
