Center fielder Larry Doby smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Cincinnati
Reds bested the Washington Nationals 8 to 6 at Crosley Field.

Doby had a good day at the plate.  He smashed a solo-shot out of the park in
the 2nd inning, stroked a single scoring a run in the 3rd inning and cracked
a solo homerun in the 7th inning.  Cincinnati out-hit Washington for the
game, 14 hits to 10.  

The win went to Jim Hearn(6-6) who allowed 3 runs in 6 innings. Jim McDonald
got the save, his 9th.  Don Larsen(4-6) took the loss.  He was unable to
control the Cincinnati offense and allowed 11 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
