Cupid Childs had 4 hits at Washington Park as the Cleveland Spiders pulled off
a dramatic comeback beating the Brooklyn Bridegrooms by the count of 6 to
4.

Cleveland had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs utilizing 5 base hits.  Jimmy McAleer led off and got things going when
he banged out a single.  Jack O'Connor followed next and he doubled.  Lou
Criger then delivered a base-hit scoring two teammates.  Ed Stein then let
loose a wild pitch.  Jesse Burkett stepped into the box and slapped a
one-base hit.  Burkett took second on the throw.  Childs extended the rally
and ripped a single scoring the final run of the inning.  Cleveland rapped
out 9 hits for the afternoon.  

Sport McAllister(2-5) went 8 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Nig Cuppy
earned the save, his 1st.  The losing pitcher was Brickyard Kennedy(3-11).
He allowed 5 runs and 7 hits in 8 innings.  

'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Kennedy said. 'The bottom line is I
didn't get the job done.  Our fans deserve better than this.'
