In a lop-sided win the Philadelphia-AL Athletics ripped the Boston-NL Braves
by a 9 to 3 count.

The Philadelphia-AL fans enjoyed the offense provided by Fred Merkle.  He
ripped a base-knock in the 1st inning, slapped a one-base hit scoring two
baserunners in the 2nd inning and doubled with all three baserunners touching
home in the 4th inning.  Philadelphia-AL had 14 hits for the afternoon while
Boston-NL had 5.  

The win went to King Cole(7-1) who allowed no runs in 6 innings. Jimmy Dygert
got the save, his 1st.  Sam Frock(4-7) was hit with the loss.  He gave up 8
runs in 3 innings of work.
