Mickey Mantle connected with a 'big fly' and Carl Erskine whitewashed
Boston-AL at Yankee Stadium as the New York-AL Yankees beat the Boston-AL Red
Sox 4 to 0.

Erskine(9-3) was very good in the win. He didn't allow much, just 6 hits and
2 walks in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 2.63 to 2.41. After the 4th
inning, neither team was able to score.

Jim Wilson(2-7) absorbed the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 8 hits in 4
innings. The winning ways continue for New York-AL. They now have a record
of 8-2 in recent days. Boston-AL can't seem to snap out of their recent
'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last couple weeks.
