McCarthy provided much of the offense. He hit a 'grand salami' to the delight of his teammates in the 4th inning, delivered a base-hit in the 7th inning and laced a single bringing in a run in the 8th inning. Boston lit up the scoreboard in the 4th inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 6 hits and the 6th inning with 11 runs on 8 hits. The Boston offense was great, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.
