Rube Marquard pitched a 2 hitter at Polo Grounds where the New York Giants
beat the Cincinnati Reds 4 to 1.
New York set the tone of the game in the first inning plating 2 runs on 3
hits. After an out was recorded, Larry Doyle got things rolling when he
lined a base-hit. Fred Snodgrass stepped into the batter's box and he ripped
a single. Red Murray then doubled scoring two baserunners. That was all the
runs Marquard(8-2) needed. New York finished with 10 hits in the victory.
Rube Benton(3-5) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 7 innings and surrendered
