Gene Dale earned the save, his 1st. Pete Alexander(3-7) was hit with the
loss. He pitched 9 innings allowing 9 hits and 5 walks.

'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Roger Bresnahan said after the game. 'Willis did not have
command of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew
how to pitch!'
