game without help from the bullpen at Polo Grounds as the New York Yankees
beat the Detroit Tigers by the count of 10 to 7.

Detroit surrendered all of the runs New York needed in the 8th inning as they
creamed Detroit blasting them with 10 runs on 9 hits.  The highlight belonged
to Caldwell who made the crowd come alive when he ripped a base-knock
bringing in two baserunners.  New York had a total of 12 hits for the game.

Caldwell(4-4) allowed 7 runs on the game. Red Oldham(0-2) took the loss in
relief.  He surrendered 7 hits and 1 walk in 1/3 of an inning.
