The Cincinnati Reds bested the New York Yankees by a 8 to 5 score at Yankee
Stadium.

Cincinnati scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
on 3 base hits.  Enos Slaughter led off and started the attack as he
delivered a single.  After an out was recorded, Mike McCormick came up and he
tripled resulting in a run.  Larry Doby then drew a walk.  Danny Murtaugh
followed and he tripled adding another two runs to their total.  Cincinnati
had 11 hits for the afternoon.  

The victory went to Ted Wilks(5-1) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs. The
losing pitcher was Cliff Chambers(5-3) in relief.  He gave up 3 runs and 2
hits in 1/3 of an inning.
