Jackie Robinson had 2 base hits at Crosley Field where the Cincinnati Reds
beat the Washington Nationals by the score of 6 to 3.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning Cincinnati scored 5 runs with the help of 4
hits.  That early scoring held up.  Cincinnati and Washington each finished
the afternoon with 8 hits.  

Ned Garver(7-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Joe Ostrowski preserved the game for Garver, recording his
his 2nd save.  Don Newcombe(4-7) took the loss.
