At Hilltop Park the Cincinnati Reds easily handled the New York-AL Highlanders
in 11 innings by the score of 9 to 5.

Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings.  Cincinnati won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning.  The highlight belonged to Jimmy Sheckard
who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he doubled with all
three runners coming home.  Cincinnati finished with 15 hits while New
York-AL ended up with 11.  

Gus Thompson(1-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. The loss
was charged to Jack Sutthoff(6-6) in relief.  He was hit hard and gave up 6
hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.
